Restoring Minds Therapy

Approach

I believe that the therapeutic space is somewhere to feel known and understood, a place to work through the painful aspects of your life and discover your inner wisdom and innate ability to heal and grow.

I am a compassionate, warm, and authentic person who utilizes both my professional training and my own lived experiences to guide the therapeutic journey.

Whether you are struggling with recent or lifelong challenges, together we can work to gain a better understanding of you, how your past experiences have shaped you,  and how to take steps toward your desired future.

Experience

During my career, I have worked with a wide range of issues, with many colorful and diverse individuals. Through these experiences, I have developed a skill set that fosters trust and the safety to discuss intimate thoughts and experiences.

I initially trained as an Addiction Counsellor, though through my work discovered that addiction was often just a symptom of internal distress. So, I went on a journey to explore Eastern philosophies and other therapeutic modalities to enhance my knowledge of trauma and understanding of internal distress.

Over my 25-year career, I have trained in several modalities, and have found myself influenced by Mindfulness-Based Therapies. I have trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Diversity Affirming Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and more recently have commenced training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

I have a special interest in working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and how trauma affects our attachment system, ability to regulate emotions, and cognitive processing.

I also enjoy working with LGBTTFQI+ as it allows me to incorporate a peer perspective as a gay woman.

Clinical supervision is another specialty of mine.  I am passionate about clinician well-being and enjoy the mentoring aspect of supervision. I have experience working with both novice and experienced clinicians.
