I am an experienced Counsellor that works with a diverse range of people from all ages, cultures and walks of life. I look forward to helping you through life’s challenges whether they be physical, relational, cognitive or emotional.
I have expertise and many years experience working with older adults and the elderly. I am knowledgeable about the stage in life when people start to get their own health issues or are struggling navigating their way through the challenges of a family member with health issues. In particular I have experience working in the area of dementia, delaying dementia, menopause, changing physical ability and many later in life illnesses and difficulties.
I have had counselling roles at a Secondary School and at Massey University Student Health and Counselling Centre. I have been a Victim Support worker, Brainfit Coach, and Activities Coordinator in Care Facilities working with patients and their families in the area of Dementia and Terminal Illness.
We will work together in a safe and respectful environment where you can feel heard without judgement. I will help you through your difficult times, and together we will make steps towards you living out your values and creating a manageable and desirable life for yourself. The journey may seem overwhelming at times. I am trained to help you with difficult emotions, thoughts, challenging relationships and behaviours, that may arise in your healing journey.
I work using a pluralistic approach which means that I see clients as needing different things at different times. I have training in a wide range of methods and select different methods depending on your needs. The therapies I work with are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Non-violent communication, Person-Centred Therapy, Illumina Change Compass.
