Zoe Balfour

Counselling Online and Waiheke Island

Kia Ora, welcome.

The foundation of effective therapy lies in the relationship between client and practitioner. I believe deeply in the power of being seen, heard, and truly understood.

In our sessions, the time and space are yours to use as you need. I offer a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My role is to hold that space with compassion and walk alongside you with support, empathy, and respect.

Together, we can gently deepen your understanding of your inner world, while identifying meaningful ways to improve your day-to-day life and overall wellbeing. My goal is to support you in living a life aligned with your values, purpose, and sense of meaning.

Areas of Focus:

I work with adults navigating a range of challenges, including:

  • Addiction and recovery
  • Emotional regulation and stress
  • Life transitions
  • Identity and self-worth
  • Relationship issues
  • Mental health and wellness

Approach & Training:

With a deep passion for health and wellness, I bring a holistic, strengths-based lens to every session. I believe in each person’s capacity for change, growth, and healing.

As a member of the queer community, I offer a safe, affirming space for people of all backgrounds and identities.

My practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Client-Centred Practice
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Experience:

Alongside my private practice, I also work with clients at Te Arai Roa Manaaki who have experienced family violence, and  who have related issues with addiction (either themselves, their partners or family members). These clients often have issues stemming from family violence/addiction resulting in depression, anxiety, low self esteem, sense of identity and poor boundaries/self care which I support them with. I previously worked at Piritahi Hau Ora seeing clients with Addiction issues.

I look forward to hearing from you.
